RightsNow Pakistan, Sindh Human Rights Defenders, Center for Social Change, Human Rights Alliance, Progressive Lawyers Forum Sindh collectively welcome the statement and appreciate the practical step of Senate Advisory Panel & its functional committee on Human Rights for questioning the legal standing of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and holding it responsible for the rising cases of violence against women across the country.
Thanks to all Senators: Nasreen Jalil, Farhatullah Babar, & special thanks to the Committee Chair-person Senator Sitara Ayaz for raising their voice on reprehensible role of CII, and holding it responsible for increasing incidents/crime against women.
Nasrin Jalil
We appreciate their stance/human rights committee on legal standing of CII and writing the law Ministry for questioning the constitutional position of the Council.
Farhatullah Baber
We highly appreciate their recommendation to the Government to pass the anti-honor killing bill aiming at banning the use of Qisas and Diyat laws in honour killing cases, which has been pending since April.
Sitara Ayaz
Concerns over the Okara Farms’ issues and registration of cases against farmers there and talking about enforcement/implementation of recommendations of the Commission on Enforced Disappearances are highly appreciated.
RightsNow Pakistan CEO Advocate Ali Palh said CII which has violated article 25 of the Constitution of Pakistan talks about equality and by instigating violence against women it has shown disrespect and disregard for internationally recognized human rights instruments particularly CEDAW to which Pakistan is Pakistan. Mr. Palh said Right NOT TO BE TORTURED is an absolute rights which cannot be suspended in war and other emergency and universal jurisdiction also applies on it. CII such anti women stance has also tarnished Pakistan’s image at international level.
Ali Palh from RightsNow Pakistan
RightsNow Pakistan also said that the role of CII advising legislatures vested with a body is not legal and morally justified when that body does not treat women equally and discriminates against them.
We also appreciate all members of Senate stand behind human rights committee’s stance and efforts.

We appreciate such sensible n sensitive lawyers who showd their worth by working n awaring against such violence. The platform of Rights Now Pakistan is always seems proactive in this regard .Their efforts in this regard are applaudable.
Long live the King. Senate & NA too has to take more efficient steps to protect the social security of gender sensitization and also have together all human rights activists for a tough on female victimization, declining the threats to female in society.
The step taken, may give some relief to women in Pakistani socio- economic platform. I appreciate Mr. Ali Pal & his team for taking bold stance either by table talk or by way street meeting, to highlight such trauma of our so called socialize community.
