Investigate the Role of Intervention & Earn a Master’s Degree in Peace Operations

The Peace Operations degree at George Mason University focuses on the study of international interventions that aim to restore or maintain peace and stability in areas affected by conflict or natural disaster, with accompanying humanitarian catastrophe.

Students study post-conflict reconstruction, recovery and development, as well as diplomacy and security.

Students tackle a wide range of issues, including

  • Provision of humanitarian assistance
  • Repatriation or resettlement of refugees
  • Conducting elections and building democracy
  • Establishing the rule of law
  • Demobilization, disarmament, and reintegration of ex-combatants
  • And more.

Our graduates are uniquely qualified to step into governmental, non-governmental, military, and international positions. Many have been working abroad in places such as Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Egypt, France, Ghana, Haiti, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan, and Tajikistan.
